Bringing Brazilian Foreign Workers to Support Canadian Businesses.

Published: March 2, 2023 Updated: July 8, 2025

Sobirovs Law Firm is proud to have successfully obtained an LMIA work permit for our Brazilian client and her spouse. Our client sought authorization to work at a bakery & coffee shop in Ontario, Canada.

After being retained by the client and her Canadian employer, Sobirovs lawyers reviewed all relevant documents of all parties involved to prepare a solid application for a two-year work permit.

Using this success story, we’d like to give a brief overview of how Canadian businesses can hire foreign workers in the current tight job market.

One Confident Step At a Time to Canada

Thanks to this successful application, the foreign worker will work at the bakery in Ontario for two years. But the bakery had to prove certain criteria to be able to hire new foreign workers, including:

  • genuineness of the job offer;
  • neutral or positive impact on the Canadian job market; and
  • no previous non-compliance with respect to hiring foreign workers.

On the other hand, the Brazilian foreign worker is an experienced baker who has earned several Confectionery Certificates from reputable culinary institutes. She has also completed a Barista Coffee preparation course, which made her an ideal candidate to join the bakery.

So, Sobirovs ensured that both sides in the foreign worker hiring process were compatible to make the subsequent work permit application a success.

The Timeline of the Case

Below you can find the exact timeline of this client’s case:

  • August 3, 2022 – the bakery/coffee shop in Ontario hired Sobirovs to represent it in the LMIA application to obtain a positive LMIA.
  • September 1, 2022 – a positive LMIA was obtained by Sobirovs that had a 2-year validity.
  • September 3, 2022 – the Brazilian client hired Sobirovs to help her with the LMIA-based work permit application to work at the chosen bakery/coffee shop in Ontario.
  • December 6, 2022 – a solid work permit application prepared by the Sobirovs team was submitted via paid representative portal.
  • January 25, 2023 – the Brazilian client’s application for a 2-year work permit has been approved.
  • February 8, 2023 – the spouse of the Brazilian foreign worker got approved for a 2-year open work permit.

From start to finish, it took 6 months to get work permits for 2 Brazilian citizens (the main applicant and her spouse). Now, both of them will contribute to the success of the Canadian economy. For Sobirovs, it’s a win-win-win-win scenario. Canada wins, Ontario wins, the bakery/coffee shop wins, and the Brazilian family wins! And the bakery’s customers win, too, by enjoying tasty pastries and aromatic Brazilian coffee!

Sobirovs Law Firm is proud to have assisted the Brazilian worker, her family and the Ontario-based bakery with their successful work permit applications. We wish them the best of luck for the future and prosperity in their business journey!

Once you select the right candidates, we will handle their immigration paperwork.

Option 2 – You find the foreign workers, and we handle their immigration applications. You found foreign workers and now need to do their immigration paperwork. Let our experienced immigration lawyer be your guide! We will review your business and supporting documents, prepare solid work permit applications for your chosen foreign workers and their family members, and facilitate their fastest arrival in Canada. Once they are in Canada and you want to build a long-term relationship with your foreign workers, we can build an immigration strategy for your workers’ permanent residence in Canada.
