Finance Specialist (Meticulous | Attention To Detail | Well-Organized)

We’re a boutique business immigration law firm that helps entrepreneurs, businesses, and their families build successful lives in Canada. Our work is complex and fast-moving, and we rely on accurate, reliable financial systems to support everything we do. 

We’re looking for a Finance Specialist who can take ownership of our day-to-day finance operations: trust and operating reconciliations, payroll, reporting, and compliance. This role is ideal for someone who is careful with details, comfortable with responsibility, and eager to grow with a close-knit team. 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Maintain accurate financial records and post transactions
  • Reconcile trust and operating accounts with bank statements
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for management
  • Review and process client invoices, receipts, and payment allocations
  • Monitor incoming and outgoing trust and operating account transactions
  • Prepare and organize GST/HST reports for submission to the external accountant
  • Support year-end financial documentation
  • Process semi-monthly payroll and related journal entries and filings
  • Maintain filing systems for financial and payroll documentation
  • Assist external accountants with audit and tax-related requests
  • Support improvements to financial processes, controls, and workflows
  • Analyze budget-to-actual variances, identify root causes and trends, and provide actionable recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency 
  • Build predictive cash flow models for trust and operating accounts, perform scenario analysis, and recommend optimal liquidity strategies to support firm growth
  • Perform other related duties as required 

What We’re Looking For: 

  • A diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of full-cycle bookkeeping or accounting experience (law firm experience preferred).
  • Accounting software and CRM systems
  • Knowledge of Canadian accounting principles, trust accounting, payroll, and tax legislation is an asset.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, accuracy, time management, and communication skills.
