We’re looking for a Finance Specialist who can take ownership of our day-to-day finance operations: trust and operating reconciliations, payroll, reporting, and compliance. This role is ideal for someone who is careful with details, comfortable with responsibility, and eager to grow with a close-knit team.
What You’ll Do:
- Maintain accurate financial records and post transactions
- Reconcile trust and operating accounts with bank statements
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for management
- Review and process client invoices, receipts, and payment allocations
- Monitor incoming and outgoing trust and operating account transactions
- Prepare and organize GST/HST reports for submission to the external accountant
- Support year-end financial documentation
- Process semi-monthly payroll and related journal entries and filings
- Maintain filing systems for financial and payroll documentation
- Assist external accountants with audit and tax-related requests
- Support improvements to financial processes, controls, and workflows
- Analyze budget-to-actual variances, identify root causes and trends, and provide actionable recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency
- Build predictive cash flow models for trust and operating accounts, perform scenario analysis, and recommend optimal liquidity strategies to support firm growth
- Perform other related duties as required
What We’re Looking For:
- A diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of full-cycle bookkeeping or accounting experience (law firm experience preferred).
- Accounting software and CRM systems
- Knowledge of Canadian accounting principles, trust accounting, payroll, and tax legislation is an asset.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, accuracy, time management, and communication skills.
